Last Friday night Premier Player David White-Cliffe Davies presented the Chief Executive of Heart Kids NZ Rob Lutter with a giant cheque for $15,900 from a club fundraising day held during the season. Rob was also presented with a signed one off playing jersey that was worn on the day by the Premier team in their match against Eden.
The donation which was raised through selling these one off jerseys, silent auctions and a main auction at the Premier after match was ahuge effort by all involved. Club members also paid a $10 entry to watch the Premier game in the Dufty Bell lounge and were treated to ham rolls and cheesecake kindly donated by Wild Wheat and Yummy Mummy’s Cheesecakes. Many Raffles as well as donation buckets also helped push the fundraising along.
On the day Bronwyn Ward and Michelle Dempsey who were both heart kids joined Charlotte Evans the mother of Lachie Evans who had heart surgery when he was just a few days old to speak to the Premier team and audience prior to the game, hearing the reality of their tough journeys made the efforts of all so worthwhile.
The year’s donation backs up the $12,400 raised in 2017 for the Breast Cancer Foundation of New Zealand taking the total raised in two years past the $27,000 mark.
