Pakuranga United appoints club stalwart Mike Anderson as new General Manager

Pakuranga United Rugby Club officially welcomes Mike Anderson as the club’s new General Manager.

A familiar face to many and known as Ando to most, he has a rich history with the club and brings a strong professional background to the front office.

A second-generation Ranga man, Ando’s father Frank is a life member and played more than 100 premier games. Ando himself ran out for Pakuranga Prems more than 50 times and, after playing, spent two decades coaching across the junior and senior grades.

He also previously served on the Board of Management for eight years.

Ando joins the club from his role as Director of Sport at Saint Kentigern College, and says he’s looking forward to getting stuck in.

“I look forward to continuing to build on the foundations laid by previous General Managers, creating an environment based on a strong sense of belonging and empowering our athletes, coaches, managers and the local community.

“Also, the gymnasium extension is hugely exciting — it’s a real legacy project. Working alongside a strong on-field and off-field administration team and a progressive board is really motivating.”

Ando takes over from Mike Bongiovanni, who started at the club at the beginning of 2023.

Other recent changes in the club staff include Charles Gibson moving into the Operations Manager role (replacing the departing Matt Clark) and Caitlin Kimpton starting as the new Junior Sports Coordinator.
