Under 5/6/7 Prizegiving
Our club’s youngest members celebrated the end of the 2024 season with a fun prizegiving at the club last week.
Players in each of the Under 5, Under 6 and Under 7 teams were recognized with team awards for sportsmanship, most improved and most valuable players.
Grade awards were given out to the Most Improved and Most Valuable players across each of the grades.
For Most Improved players Oscar McLaren won the James Arlidge Trophy for the Under 5s, Archer Sole won the Tom Ritchie Memorial Trophy for Under 6s and Vivaan Trehan won the Alex Thwaites Cup for Under 7s.
U5 Penguins’ Imogen Campbell received the Tom McCartney Trophy for most valuable Under 5 player.
“Imogen consistently stands out with her confidence and skill. Every time she get the ball, Imogen sprints and steps past opponents, racking up tries in every game. Fearless and determined, she never hesitate to make a play, whether it’s grabbing a rip or charging towards the try line.”
The Ring Trophy was awarded to Nehemiah Emosi from the Under 6 Brumbies for the Most Valuable player in his grade.
“Nehemiah is known for his speed and impressive step and always playing the game with a smile that embodies the spirit of junior rugby. Throughout the season, he’s scored numerous tries and consistently made crucial rips to support their team.”
The most valuable Under 7 player went to Layne Schrafft from the Giants, taking about the Percy Jones Cup.
“Layne has consistently demonstrated exceptional skill on the rugby field, making a significant impact on their team's performance throughout the season. In addition to his athletic abilities, Layne has a remarkable talent for finishing tries, his infectious enthusiasm and joy after scoring not only inspire their teammates but also energize the supporters”
Layne wasn’t the only one from his family to walk away with an award last week, his mum, Abbey, won the Rob Bennett Memorial Trophy for outstanding contribution by a female member.
Other off field awards were given for Overall Instruction and Development for our junior coaches with Ben Gibbons (Under 5s), Steve Willy (Under 6s) and Kieran Lewis (Under 7) recognized for their efforts.
