Junior Team of the Week: U6 Highlanders

On a brisk Friday night, our under 6 teams gathered under the lights at Bell Park, brimming with excitement and anticipation. The U6 Highlanders were set to clash with the newly formed Crusaders, both eager to leave their mark on this year's competition as we entered week 3.

After thorough warm-ups and pep talks, led by coach Patrick O'Riordan, the teams charged onto the field amidst a chorus of cheers from parents and supporters. The first half ignited with a flurry of fast-paced rugby, showcasing impressive skills and relentless determination from both sides.

As tries flowed in and defensive efforts intensified, it became a true battle of the south in the 09. Despite the tough competition, William Dawson stood out, earning the well-deserved title of Player of the Day for his exceptional performance in both attack and defense.

The day concluded with a jubilant gathering in the packed clubrooms, where players celebrated their efforts with a round of prize-giving and enjoyed some well-earned hot chips. Congratulations to the Highlanders and Coach Patrick O'Riordan, whose leadership has guided the team for two successful years.

The Highlanders, comprised of Finn, Amy, Jackson, William, Otis, Oscar, and Manarangi, showcased admirable teamwork and sportsmanship throughout the game. Well done to all involved!
